Coronavirus. It’s all over the news and how people are attempting to create a vaccine. A majority of the world has decided to move to online learning.
However, Coronavirus isn’t all bad. It has prevented people from going outside which helps the environment. One thing that it has also helped people realize is human morality. Ever since the outbreak we see more videos, articles, and stories of people fighting against each other. From people taking toilet paper from the elderly, to people hoarding supplies to themselves, we see how human morality has changed and has basically disappeared.
A quote from the movie Joker explains this perfectly. Joker stated, “Their morals, their code; it’s a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They’re only as good as the world allows them to be.
You’ll see- I’ll show you. When the chips are down these, uh, civilized people? They’ll eat each other. See I’m not a monster, I’m just ahead of the curve”.
This is exactly the thing that has been happening in society recently. People forget the exact thing that makes them human and immediately divert to savage animals when they feel endangered. They panic and it becomes a game of every man for themselves. People’s natural response to danger is to fight for themselves. We are all simply wild beasts without our morality. We must be aware of this because who knows what would happen if more things are on the line or an even greater threat occurs. We will begin to backtrack and de-evolve. This will be the downfall of humanity.
